Ms. Janet - Teacher Assistant

Janet was born in Chicago and grew up in the Pilsen neighborhood. Janet has two sisters who she enjoys doing various activities with. She is an alumni of Northern Illinois University where she graduated with a B.A. in Child Development with an emphasis in Parent Infant Specialist and a Minor in Spanish.

During her time at NIU she worked at the schools day care for 5 years and had the chance to be an intern at the schools Child Development Lab for a semester. She worked with infants six weeks to pre-school children age five. Her experience working with children during her college years made her realize working with young children was really what she wanted to do. As a teacher aid she spent a lot of her time engaging with the children during play time, outside time, cooking activities, and art. During her internship she had the opportunity to assume more of the teacher role in the classroom by completing lesson plans, leading parent conferences, and of course engaging with the children during play.

Janet enjoys crafting and scrapbooking in her spare time and is excited to share some of her ideas with her students. She is looking forward to share her creativity at Green Beginnings.
